The Others Assignment: People we know part

The others assignment: People I know I like this image because of several things...one being the background and coloring, lighting and it was just plain fun.

Assignment: The other ( unknown Victim)

This is my other...the unknown other.
He didn't move for quite some time so I began wondering about him..his friends seemed to just ignore him..interesting, I heard them all talking around him and from what they said I gathered they were in the military.

Assignment: The Other: Me Alone on a Bench

Taking an image of myself was interesting. I do a lot of scrapbooking so everything goes somewhere whether its in a journal, sketch book or scrapbook. So...the location was at a park on a bench. hope you enjoy the image of my feet...The assignment didn't specify that it had to be of my face right????

Artist: Nancy Blevins and Carolyn Tucker

Nancy Blevins allowed me to use her drawings and create art boxes to store her art supplies in. Of course I had to take her images and scan them and use the images of those images because using the originals would smear the inks. As you can tell this is a photograph of a page in my sketch book of my work. I also included some of Jenny Holtzer's work.

Artist: Carolyn Tucker (SELF)

My art: Drawing using charcoal, pencil and yellow Indian ink. This particular drawing was from a book called "Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain". I was trying different things suggested in the book like... drawing by turning the picture upside down. Some of my favorite drawings are done this way.

Artist: Josephine Gibbs

Earlier in the weekly posting I posted the other half to this painting/collage. She is first and foremost a printmaker but can and has worked various medias, done large scale works and has been hired for some huge projects on home in Arizona and various states. I have this and the earlier piece. She has work of mine also. I like to buy and trade my work with other artists that I want to surround myself with. This and the other half are hung in my home at present

The Letter D

The assignment consists of the following:
D, V, U, P, Y, i, K, C, and Q
Nine letters in all...I had more but haven't been able to get to them yet so I may or may not add more.

The Letter Q

I had never been so conscious of looking for letters before....ever, this was a cool find.

V in the shadow

In between classes all over campus.

The letter U shadows are great

Another taken on campus between classes. I love shadow casts.

MORE LETTERS FROM NATURE

The letter P cropped but not by much. I like capturing the letters through shadow shots. This shot was taken around 1 pm on campus.

you may ask Y well here's your Y.....

Found outside of the Ceramic studio. Lots of great angles and shapes there. Now I am on a hunt...but not for Y any longer...

the small case letter i

This was fun the bottom yellow stem and the white round circle caught my eyes as i moved past them because you had to line yourself up just right to have the image come together and form the i.

FINDING THE K ON THE SIDEWALK

THE LETTER K WAS A FUN FIND HERE ON CAMPUS TODAY. NOW I AM SEEING LETTERS EVERYWHERE........

THE LETTER C THE FIRST OF MANY TO FOLLOW

It was like seeing the area that I pass every week and looking at it in a different light. Interesting to see the C.....

MY FIRST PAINTING CLASS AND SOME OF THE RESULTS

I wanted to let the brush guide me and see what started to form and it was the elephants at first. It was interesting to see what starts forming when we just....allow
Now the Bamboo was done by an imprint from a lino cut that I did and I then intensified the image by layer and layering. Fun pieces!

Artist: Greta Mikkelsen

This is the grouping of four titled Red Tractor. There are three other groupings not with this photo, those are: Black Volvo, A White Pony, and A little yellow dog. Here show was here on campus. I have had the good fortune of having several classes with Greta and she is a dedicated hard working student and artist.
Artist: Greta Mikkelsen is a student here at Southern Oregon University.

Leaves in Photo Etching Artist: Self

This image was taken here on campus. You can't really tell but beads of water are on the surface of the leaves, which gives and interesting air to the piece. I (Carolyn Tucker) wanted to do something on the lines of Andy Warhol with the multiples, but using my own photographs.

Printmaking/Photoetchings Artist: Self

Photo etching is such a process, but I like the outcome. With this process you must be not only patient but also willing to start over if you make mistakes.... On the other hand it's worth the time it takes...you can turn out some nice pieces of Art.
You are basically taking copper/film/developing film, and etching into copper. That's the really short version.

Artist: Shawn Newman

Shawn Newman is an artist who is also a student at Southern Oregon University in Ashland Oregon.
This piece is hanging in my hallway at home. It is a graphite piece of work. Shawn is a senior and hanging a show as I write..right here at SOU.

Artist: Leah Staller

Artist: Leah Staller
Subject: Carolyn Tucker
I use to be a model for Yavapai Community College's art dept. This is a Charcoal drawing and is poster size. After displaying it as one of her pieces in her show at SOU I ended up with the piece. I have it hanging in my art room.

Time in a Bottle

Drawing two with Karen was awesome. Doing still life drawings were a challenge, but fun...so here you have one of many to follow.
I like working with charcoal.
The second art piece to the first assignment. This is all foreign to me and I hope that I am doing things right. All this is new to me, it's like learning to walk, you take a few hits, fall down, get back up and fall down again, then finally you start going from one place to another just handing on like a cat!

josephine Gibbs work

An art work from Josephine Gibbs who teaches Printmaking at Yavapai College in Prescott Arizona. She did this piece by using inks, cut out ladders, balloons and added various layers to her image.

# 1 of the first assignment

family photos

Family and friends throughout the summer of 2009. The photographs are a combination of several trips to Arizona. My mother has been deathly ill and my son was home on leave from Germany, so these were of gatherings to celebrate life and to capture all we could.
