Page Eight of Eight for Book Project

I feel like this term was very rushed and would love to actually wish is was a semester based class, but that may just be me. I appreciate the laughter and easy going personalities of Miles and Warren and appreciate the photography that journalism that Dennis brought to the class. I did learn a lot and know enough to know that I don't know enough about the digital world, it is ever progressing and changing. I would love to come back and do more work with my art and include the pieces into the digital art world.
I know I have my difficulties but feel as though I have learned so much and am proud of my work.

Page Seven of Eight for Book Project

A still life drawn in my drawing II class with Peg at SOU 2008. Then I did the norm and took it into photo shop and darkened it, made it sharper and added a touch of color.

Page Six of Eight of Book Project

I want to start looking at my art in different was and using text can add a powerful political statement to us all. I want to further investigate Barbara Kruger and Judy Chicago a long with a few others.

Page five of Eight of Book Project

My Great Grandmother was full blooded Indian and even though I was very young I remember how uncomfortable she appeared around some of my grandfather's own siblings. I didn't understand the racist remarks then but I knew something was terribly wrong with how my grandmother was talked to just by the tone of voice people used. I made me cry and hang on her leg.

Page Four of Eight for my book project

Again taking my drawings into photo shop and adding text and a little color.

Page Three of Eight for Book Project

I have had a weight problem most of my life and it has been a problem. I have an eating disorder. I am an over eater. I don't throw up or starve myself but I over eat all the unhealthy junk because it's usually faster and cost less..that adds to the reasons for the obesity...I look in the mirror and wonder who that woman is because I don't feel like I look I feel like this woman..free and comfortable in my own skin.

Page Two of Eight for book project

These Drawings were not only a good exercise but were a stress reduction. I like adding the simple background colors and text to just add a little extra something to the piece.

Page one

Personal drawing creating a body of work leaning towards spirituality.
My drawing was then taken into photo shop and given a touch of color.

Book Cover

Carolyn Tucker's drawings, paintings and photographs put into an 8 page book.
This cover/drawing....was a done from the book "Drawing on the right side of the Brain" I turned the book upside down and drew one of my favorite drawings. I then took the drawing into photo shop and took it to the charcoal and changed it further for my cover.

My Cube Guy...Hairy little guy!

So this is my cube guy. It was fun and it would be fun to see them all together displayed. I think that there was a lot of difficulties this term with the computers and I have some additional challenges but all in all I think I over came a lot of fears and just made things happen.

Artist: Carolyn Tucker (Self)

This drawing was fun to do. I allowed myself to not worry about getting the scale just right but rather had fun playing with the image and distortion.
I used charcoal and Indian Ink.

Artist: Greta from Art 333 class

Greta's art is interesting and ever expanding. This particular piece is an oil painting on canvas. She does well with the industrial images. I like to follow her work. She is also a great printmaker and creates some great images through her photo etching techniques.

Artist: Carolyn Tucker Art piece: Sticks

This is one of my drawings. I took a picture of my drawing then I used a paintbrush and added the blue for the surrounding areas.

Another of the other: My Beautiful Grandson

A photograph that I took of my Grandson Christian while my son Miles was home on leave from the army. Christian's expressive playful self is so very refreshing. I love kids and their uninhibited natures.

Artist Carolyn Tucker (Self) Redo

I tried editing my post but just ended up deleting the old entry and placing in the new one. Adjustments made were with the help of Miles Inada...thanks Miles.
This is one of my Lino Cuts from Printmaking.

Another of the other: Someone I know

Christian Antonio Gonzales is the most incredible kid I've ever encountered. Smart, funny, interested in everything and speaks his mind. I did some adjustments with the color and saturation here to make this photograph work. I like the innocence captured with a bit of playfulness amist the serious look expressed.

Another of the other: Someone I know

Another of the other: I've got to include a few of my Grandson. He is having a blast at the park in Maricopa, Arizona. I like the action with the water and of course his smile is awesome.

A few more of the other: Someone I know

This is more for the other assignment. His name is Christian Antonio Gonzales, is my grandson, four years old and the light of my life.
I like to play, spoil and then give him back to his momma..(HA) I shot this photo on my trip to Arizona.

Artist: Kendalle Danielle

Artist: Kendalle Danielle
I have only featured artist that I personally have contact with through the university and from past community colleges.
This artist is a peer in my drawing three class that I've gotten permission to use for my blog.
The image is done on paper with black charcoal.

My current drawings: for Art 333 with Cody

These are two of my most current drawings. The one on the right is titled "I should of gone to the dance". My son was hit by mortar fire in Iraq and his brain was swollen for some time, he had amnesia and it took some time to recover. The title of the piece is from a long running joke with him..Miles always stated "I should of gone to the theater" whenever he does something he regrets. Materials include charcoal, color pencil and Indian ink.
The Abstract piece was done with charcoals, Indian Ink, regular ink pens and color pencils.
The abstract image was done as

Cube Craft

I wanted to include a little bit of humor to my cube so I gave it a lot of hair to keep it warm this winter and leaves to remember that the winter will pass. This project was fun because I played with some tools I hadn't before.

Embrace Thy Self

One of my drawings played with using the paint tool. There is so much you can do...I am starting to get excited to think of what the possibilities will be in the future for my art. To think this is a photograph of my drawing, then drawing on it in photo shop takes it to a new level...and I am just beginning.

One of my drawings...played with.

One of my drawings...played with using the paint brush tool and just plain old playing. I feel like I am just getting into the work and the term is about to end...that's sometimes a blessing but in this case I feel like I am just getting use to the tools and the exploration of what the digital world has to offer. Your imagination can take you anywhere in this world.

1 of 2 from the assignment sketch/scratch

I thought I would do my own version of "The Mechanic. A 1920's oil painting hanging in the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa.
About Revolution, Reform, and Modernity.
The mechanics of drawing with different tools on the computer brought this to image to mind so I thought that I would draw it...it is kind of fun so I know that I will do more at time passes. So expect to see some trippy stuff...

SIDE EFFECTS......OH MY

The first of two sketch or scratch assignment. This image I did with my right hand although left handed. The computers are set up with the mouse on the right side so I decided to do both images with the opposite hand...
I kept seeing commercials last night with all these side effects a mile long so I thought that I would do something reflecting that.

Artist: Nancy Blevins & Carolyn Tucker

Photographs by Nancy Blevins and by me, together bring in some interesting work. We have done a few works together in the past and maybe someday we will again. She is now out of state working on her BFA with her emphasis in Photography.

ANOTHER of the OTHER: Just another added photo

I took this photograph of some friends and myself at the Science Works Museum here in Ashland, Oregon:
You Stand on one side of the board and press your body against this panel and your image presses into the pegs and causes them to protrude on the other side.... This was fun to experiment with.

Artist: Carolyn Tucker (SELF)

Walking one morning I caught a good shot of water beading up on these leaves. This was just one of those beautiful images that you just have to get once in a while, just because it's pleasing to the eye....

Another Artist: From Science Works in Ashland, Oregon

This is a photograph of an unknown artist from the Science Works here in Ashland, Oregon. The image is quite large and is along side many other images used for educational purposes....the place is just plain ol fun if you haven't gone...go with some friends, you are never to old to have fun and learn.

The Others Assignment: People we know part

The others assignment: People I know I like this image because of several things...one being the background and coloring, lighting and it was just plain fun.

Assignment: The other ( unknown Victim)

This is my other...the unknown other.
He didn't move for quite some time so I began wondering about him..his friends seemed to just ignore him..interesting, I heard them all talking around him and from what they said I gathered they were in the military.

Assignment: The Other: Me Alone on a Bench

Taking an image of myself was interesting. I do a lot of scrapbooking so everything goes somewhere whether its in a journal, sketch book or scrapbook. So...the location was at a park on a bench. hope you enjoy the image of my feet...The assignment didn't specify that it had to be of my face right????

Artist: Nancy Blevins and Carolyn Tucker

Nancy Blevins allowed me to use her drawings and create art boxes to store her art supplies in. Of course I had to take her images and scan them and use the images of those images because using the originals would smear the inks. As you can tell this is a photograph of a page in my sketch book of my work. I also included some of Jenny Holtzer's work.

Artist: Carolyn Tucker (SELF)

My art: Drawing using charcoal, pencil and yellow Indian ink. This particular drawing was from a book called "Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain". I was trying different things suggested in the book like... drawing by turning the picture upside down. Some of my favorite drawings are done this way.

Artist: Josephine Gibbs

Earlier in the weekly posting I posted the other half to this painting/collage. She is first and foremost a printmaker but can and has worked various medias, done large scale works and has been hired for some huge projects on home in Arizona and various states. I have this and the earlier piece. She has work of mine also. I like to buy and trade my work with other artists that I want to surround myself with. This and the other half are hung in my home at present

The Letter D

Shapes and patterns (Artist) Carolyn Tucker

Water color pencils and playing with geometric shapes. I did this during the summer of 2006 or 2007 time seem to run together the older I get. I have since started documenting better.

you may ask Y well here's your Y.....

Found outside of the Ceramic studio. Lots of great angles and shapes there. Now I am on a hunt...but not for Y any longer...

the small case letter i

This was fun the bottom yellow stem and the white round circle caught my eyes as i moved past them because you had to line yourself up just right to have the image come together and form the i.

FINDING THE K ON THE SIDEWALK

THE LETTER K WAS A FUN FIND HERE ON CAMPUS TODAY. NOW I AM SEEING LETTERS EVERYWHERE........

THE LETTER C THE FIRST OF MANY TO FOLLOW

It was like seeing the area that I pass every week and looking at it in a different light. Interesting to see the C.....

MY FIRST PAINTING CLASS AND SOME OF THE RESULTS

I wanted to let the brush guide me and see what started to form and it was the elephants at first. It was interesting to see what starts forming when we just....allow
Now the Bamboo was done by an imprint from a lino cut that I did and I then intensified the image by layer and layering. Fun pieces!

Artist: Greta Mikkelsen

This is the grouping of four titled Red Tractor. There are three other groupings not with this photo, those are: Black Volvo, A White Pony, and A little yellow dog. Here show was here on campus. I have had the good fortune of having several classes with Greta and she is a dedicated hard working student and artist.
Artist: Greta Mikkelsen is a student here at Southern Oregon University.
